NORTH AMERICAN WEST
Sacremento Surge were formed in 1991 as a founding member of the World League of American Football. They qualified for the playoffs and won 21-17 in World Bowl '92 against Orlando Thunder. |
They played at Hughes Stadium for their first season and Hornet Stadium, home of the Sacramento State Hornets for their second season. |
Despite the WLAF suspending operations after the 1992 season, the Managing General Partner Fred Anderson continued Sacramento's presence in professional football by buying
the Canadian Football League team Sacramento Gold Miners for the 1993 CFL season. |
