Rhein Fire

Rhein Fire joined when the World League of American Football returned in 1995 as a solely European league and resurrected the Fire name that had been used by the WLAF's Birmingham Fire (1991-1992). They were recognised as one of NFL Europa's most successful teams both on and off the field and won 2 World Bowls.
Prior to playing at the LTU Arena in 2005, they played at the Rheinstadion (2002) and Arena AufSchalke (2003-2004) in nearby Gelsenkirchen whilst the LTU Arena was being built.
The team folded when the NFL suspended its operations following the 2007 season.
