This was the 12th season for the league that started out as the World League of American Football, 10th as the six-team Europe-only format and 7th as the re-branded NFL Europe.
The Hamburg Sea Devils replaced the Scottish Claymores and the league now had 5 German teams and 1 Dutch team.
