This was the 12th season for the league that started out as the World League of American Football, 10th as the six-team Europe-only format and 7th as the re-branded NFL Europe.
The Cologne Centurions replaced the FC Barcelona Dragons and the league now had 4 German teams, 1 Dutch team and 1 Scottish team.
